Orthopaedic Footwear
Orthopaedic shoes are worn by people of all ages suffering from poor foot mechanics. They are specifically designed with features that provide additional support to the structure and mechanics of the foot, ankle, and leg.
At Collective Footcare, we exclusively work with Brooks Running shoes as our orthopaedic footwear supplier.
Orthopaedic footwear typically has several features that separate them from everyday footwear including:
- Padded tongue (A): minimizes lacing pressure over the instep
- Foam cushioned collar (B): extra padding and cushioning to provide comfort and support, prevents heel slippage and creates a snug friction-free fit
- Deep toe box (C): to provide room for the toes to be comfortable and to accommodate foot conditions such as hammertoes or bunions
- Firm heel counter (D): to provide stability and support
- Removable insoles (E): to accommodate custom orthotics
- Strong shank and wide and stable base (F): to provide balance and arch support
- Rocker sole (G): to promote a natural gait and reduce pressure on the foot
- Adjustable straps or laces to provide a customized and secure fit
- Often made of durable materials and are easy to clean
