Verrucae and Warts
Plantar warts are skin growths caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), commonly found on the soles of the feet or around the toes. Unlike other types of warts, plantar warts are often flat, thick, and painful especially when located in weight-bearing areas.
Warts can be stubborn and may persist for months or even years without treatment. At Collective Footcare and Orthotics, we offer multiple evidence-based treatment options tailored to your comfort level and the severity of the wart.
Treatment for Verrucae and Warts
Conservative care may include in-office topical acid therapy, where controlled applications of medical-grade acids break down the wart tissue over a series of visits. For faster results, we offer Swift® microwave therapy, a cutting-edge treatment that uses heat to stimulate the body’s immune response.
For resistant or deep warts, we may recommend Faulknor’s dry needling- a minor procedure that implants viral particles deeper into the skin to trigger immunity, or surgical excision for immediate removal under local anesthetic.
If you’re unsure whether you have a wart or how to treat it, book an assessment with one of our Foot Specialists. We’ll walk you through your options and develop a plan to get rid of the wart for good.
